PRINCIPAL SOPRANO 
D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Pamela studied at the Welsh College of Music and Drama, and the Royal College of Music, London.

She has won many prizes for Singing, including the Young Welsh Singers Competition.



She was principal soprano with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company playing:-

  • Elsie in Yeomen of the Guard  

  • Phyllis in Iolanthe

  • Princess Zara in Utopia Ltd  

  • Gianetta in Gondoliers

  • Josephine in HMS Pinafore  

  • Patience in Patience

  • Aline in Sorceror

 

​In the film 'HMS Pinafore', which the company made at Elstree Studios, she sang the leading soprano part of Josephine. For Decca Records, she recorded Phyllis in 'Iolanthe', and Princess Zara in 'Utopia Ltd'. After leaving the Company, she appeared as Leila in the Brent Walker production of 'Iolanthe'. She is also featured in 'Together Again' from the Buxton Opera House.


She has sung in many concerts, recitals, oratorio, operas and operettas, which have taken her to all the major theatres in the country, and has appeared as a guest artiste on various television programmes.

​She has performed in cabaret at the Savoy Hotel and Connaught Rooms, London, and also sang for seven Summer seasons at Bournemouth.

​

On a world cruise of the QE2 she sang in Songs from the Shows and Gilbert & Sullivan concerts, visiting Hong Kong, Japan, Hawaii and South Korea.

 

Her international work has taken her to Czechoslovakia, Rome, Stockholm, Germany, the Netherlands and the U.S.A.

 

​Pamela's London performances include two concerts at The Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Centre, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Adelphi Theatre, and Savoy Theatre.

​

She has recently begun giving talks about her interesting career in 'An Evening with Pamela Field'. She is also available to coach singers on Gilbert & Sullivan roles.

SINGING LESSONS

Pamela runs a very successful singing school where students are able to benefit from an extremely high level of professional and technical knowledge.
